Description

In late 1975 a small excavation trench 2.3 m by 2m was excavated by Poole Museum Service at the east end of the Prison attached to the north side of the Town Cellars. This revealed a deposit of oyster shell beneath a layer of rubble relating to the demolition of the original lock up and its rebuilding in 1820. (1)
