Description
OASIS: A detailed gradiometer survey was conducted in support of a planning application for residential development of the site. The archaeological anomalies identified are thought to relate to three ring ditches, although it is not clear from the geophysical data alone whether these are associated with barrows or round houses. The survey has also identified a number of anomalies that have been interpreted as possible archaeology. An area of these anomalies is located in the south-east of the site and may relate to settlement activity comprising ditched enclosures, boundaries, and a possible drove way. Several other possible ditches are located across the site but are too isolated to other any confident interpretation. As well as the possible ditch features, numerous possible pits have been identified across the site. It is not clear whether these are evidence of archaeological activity or are natural pitting in the underlying bedrock.
