Description

OASIS terraina1-153333: Terrain Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological observations and recording at Bottle Knap, Long Bredy, Dorset, during trenching and other groundworks associated with the installation of a replacement sceptic tank. The site is thought to lie on, or near the edge of the medieval village of Langebrede, but no structural remains were found to test this supposition. Small amounts of medieval pottery were collected from upper colluvial soils. A grave encapsulated within deeper, lower colluvial soils contained skeletal remains from at least three adult/sub-adults individuals. Although undated, these burials are perhaps most likely to be Prehistoric, potentially of Middle- or Later Bronze Age date.
