Description

Observations and recording during groundworks for two semi-detached houses revealed revealed the remains of a three metre wide flint and chalk wall base that is probably part of the Roman town defences. The wall footing was cut through an infilled coombe running down to the river Frome. A small number of small medieval pits and a larger number of post-medieval pits were found across the site.
