Description
A round barrow on the south side of Warren Hill, Hengistbury Head was excavated by H St George Gray in September 1919. The excavation did not locate a central burial despite excavation continuing to 0.9m into the natural. The mound comprised mainly sand and the majority of finds came from the periphery of the mound. No cremated bone or other human remains were found. In the northeastern part of the mound fragments of the rim and upper body of a decorated food vessel urn were fpund. About 250 struck flints including six scrapers were recovered from the barrow, but most are now lost. (1)
