Description

Angela Mace, a Cambridge University graduate, undertook the first systematic investigation of the Upper Palaeolithic site on Hengistbury Head. She excavated more than 85 square yards of the site to the south of the footpath along the south part of the headland and recovered large quantities of Upper Palaeolithic flints, confirming the existence of a major Upper Palaeolithic open-air site.
