Description
A desk-based assessment, including site visit, of the proposed external refurbishment of cladding to four high-rise residential tower blocks on the northern edge of the Quayside area of Poole. A Heritage Statement to cover the proposed external refurbishment of cladding to four high-rise residential tower blocks located on the northern edge of the Quayside area of Poole. The four residential tower blocks are: Drake Court, Lagland Street; Grenville Court, South Road; Nelson Court, Lagland Street; and Rodney Court, Whatleigh Close. This report had been requested by the Local Planning Authority in support of the proposed planning application. The heritage statement concludes that the replacement of the damaged and out-of-date external cladding on the tower blocks with a simpler, cleaner design, and with new materials will have a Minor Beneficial Impact to the heritage value of the Town Centre Conservation Area. This is in line with Policy 3.8 (Conservation Areas) of the Borough of Poole Heritage Assets: Supplementary Planning Document 2013.
