Description

The Gunpowder Works at Stockwood was identified from documentary sources by the RCHME project `Dangerous Energy the archaeology of gunpowder and military explosives manufacture'. A field visit was made to the works in October 1995 to confirm its location and to ascertain what if anything of the works remained. Although a mill, recently converted into a dwelling, and an earthwork leat were found neither could categorically be linked with the Gunpowder Works and therefore no further recording was initiated.
