Description
Evaluation in 2015 by Terrain Archaeology comprising the excavation of a trench 26 metres long, equivalent to a sample of around 4% of the site, where features recorded in earlier phases of evaluation in 2000 and 2001 were tentatively interpreted as curvilinear ditches of a possible prehistoric monument. The trench revealed a single undated quarry pit and one other possible quarry pit, and showed the chalk bedrock was heavily disturbed with periglacial features. Some of the earlier features have been shown to be periglacial in origin while others may represent quarry pits, rather than ditches.
