Description

Observations and recording during installation of a new water supply. A mole plough was used for most of the length of the pipeline, which made observation impossible. At the north-west end of the route, a spread of Roman pottery and a layer with chalky flecks were observed. These were thought likely to be Roman chalk surfaces and occupation layers recorded here in 1987, and interpreted as part of the extensive Roman site at Norden.
