EDO6623 - A303 Wincanton - Zeals Improvement; fieldwalking 1991

Approximately 8 km of the A303 bypass between Stoke Lane, Stoke Trister parish, in the west eastwards to the existing dual carriageway east of Zeals village were walked between 23rd to the 25th January 1991 and completed on the 28th January 1991. Twenty sites of archaeological interest were identified, eleven of which are in Dorset and four of which were recommended for further investigation, 3 of which are in Dorset. Finds from the sites were collected for analysis included shards of medieval pottery, worked flints, tile fragments a bronze object and evidence of metal working.
