Description

A survey and analysis of the building was requested by the Historic England regional Planning Team following a fire in July 2015. A well-informed response was required in advance of repairs, in particular the unusual roof structure needed to be understood. Dendrochronological analysis was carried out in 2016 and established that the eastern and central part of the roof was constructed from timber felled in the mid-1550s. A building survey and analysis were carried out using techniques including laser scanning, Total Station Theodolite survey, observation and analysis. The main range of the house was surveyed only.
