Description

Observations and recording during groundworks for the construction of a detached stable block and store plus agricultural storage barn, compring an area of 105 sq.m. Some archaeological remains had previously been recorded to the east of the site near St James Church. Groundworks were observed comprising site level reduction, topsoil strip and excavation of footings to a depth of between 800mm and 1.3m. A small amount (two sherds) of handmade medieval pottery was recovered from the topsoil, likely to be of 12th to 14th century date and residual rather than primary deposits.
