Description

Evaluation comprising excavation of 18 trenches, targeted upon anomalies identified by a geophysical survey. Several ditches and pits were recorded, and archaeological features of this sort appeared to be present across most of the site, though with an apparent concentration of activity in the southern half of the site. These features were of Early/Middle Bronze Age to Early Iron Age date and interpreted as an area of fields and agricultural/pastoral activity in the near periphery of a prehistoric settlement. Worked flints of Mesolithic and/or early Neolithic date were recovered from the site; apparently redeposited, these may indicate activity in the vicinity.
