Description

The archaeological evaluation consisted of the excavation of 11 trial trenches measuring 30m by 1.6m dug using a 360 degree excavator with a toothless bucket. Four trenches contained archaeological features or artefacts including gullies, pit/post holes, shrub boles with archaeological material. Finds included heavily abraded pottery which was respectively prehistoric, Romano-British, medieval and post-medieval. There was also flint both struck and burnt unworked.
