EDO6428 - Christchurch Court, The Grove, Dorchester; observations and recording 2012

Observations and recording during ground reduction works for enlargement of the car park at Physiques and Shapes Health Club, on a site straddling the two outer ditches of the Roman defences. The outer ditch was shown to be 9.8m wide at this point and to have had two phases; a full profile of the ditch was not obtained, as the lower fill remained in situ. A small part of the middle ditch was seen; it was seen to be severely truncated by post-medieval activity, and the remains of post-medieval buildings and a well were seen.
