Description
Earth resistance survey was undertaken in July 2012 by GeoFlo for a private client to test hypotheses about the layout of Cerne Abbey. The areas surveyed were the Abbey Gatehouse, the cemetery, the garden of 29 Long Street, and Squibb's Garden near the parish church. Results from the Abbey Gatehouse and the cemetery were inconclusive. At the other locations the results revealed a number of high and low resistance linear anomalies, possibly indicating buried stone walls or robber trenches. Some irregular anomalies possibly indicated buried stone rubble. It could not be determined whether the possible walls related to the abbey.
