Description
Observations and recording during groundworks for a single-storey extension to the rear of a listed building. Soil was removed to a depth of between 650mm and 1m. Two pits and a sealed well were revealed. The well was thought likely to be of 18th-century date. The filling of one of the pits contained a small assemblage of residual UGSD ware of medieval date, suggesting possible medieval occupation in the vicinity, though other residual material such as kitchen refuse, was scarce. No evidence of earlier buildings was observed.
