Description

Information on the historical development of the site has been drawn from a number of sources, including historical map regression, the Milton Abbas village Street Conservation Area Appraisal (published September 2000), the Royal Commission volume for Dorset and the statutary list of buildings of special architectural or historic interest. A site visit was made on 1st December 2011. The modern structures that form the eastern part of the medical centre are of no indivdual architectural merit. However the single-storey brick building at the western end could possibly be attibuted to James Wyatt and is potentially of historic interest. The Flint boundary walls that enclose the courtyard buildings, although built on top of on the north side and built up to by modern buildings on the south side, and thus compromised to an extent, are distinct remnants of the historic pattern of development of the site.
