Description

A watching brief was undertaken north east of Bishops Court Farm as part of the Wessex Water Corfe Mullen to Salisbury water transfer scheme archaeological mitigation. The most significant feature identified on the site comprised a palisade and ditch on an approximate east to west alignment and has been interpreted as a boundary monument of possible Bronze Age or earlier date. A number of ephemeral undated linear features were also noted, two of which may delineate a former trackway. The remaining features investigated were probable natural features such as tree hollows.
