Description
An archaeological watching brief was carried out during groundworks as part of a planning application for development by Lidl GmbH. A 360 degree tracked machine fitted with toothed bucket removed bulk modern made ground deposits to the depth of formation levels. One representative soil profile was recorded. Monitoring of the groundworks identified only modern made ground across the site to a depth of c. 2m. No archaeological features or artefacts were observed.
