Description

Resistivity survey was carried out at the request of Paul Gosling, Inspector of Ancient Monuments, in order to clarify the nature of any surviving buried remains. The castle was reportedly dismantled in the 17th century and no standing remains or obvious building platforms are visible on the surface. Anomalies indicated a number of buried features. A small area of the moat was available for survey and here anomalies suggesting a possible causeway and gatehouse. Others to the east may be drainage features, and another appeared to relate to an L-shaped earthwork.
