Description

Scheduled Monument Consent was granted for a programme of archaeological works connected with the demolition, relocation and construction of a new porch . This included excavation of an area 3.6m by 1.8m by 0.46m deep. Under the modern paving an overburden deposit consisting of a dark sandy silty clay from which no archaeological finds were recovered. This was the only deposit observed and was thought likely to be a post-medieval soil. No earlier archaeological features or deposits were observed. Any such deposits surviving were thought likely to be at a greater depth below present ground level.
