Description
Test pits were dug to assess the impact of the proposed demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new dwelling. Two 1m by 1m test pits were dug in the area where the proposed new building was likely to be sited, one at each end of the terrace created for the earlier building. This showed that, though the ground surface was lower due to the terracing, archaeological material was present in the vicinity.
