Machine excavation of nine trenches on the northern half of a raised terrace, and to the west of an area where previous archaeological work had revealed a complex of settlement remains of several periods. This activity was shown to extend at least 25m westwards into this evaluation area. Further west were soils felt to be more indicative of cultivation. Other parts of the evaluation area revealed evidence that landscaping associated with the playing fields is likely to have removed any archaeological remains that may once have been present.
