Description
Core samples suitable for dendrochronology were obtained from two of the three remaining roof timbers in the former hall range; one was from a principal rafter and the other from a collar. Analysis resulted in a cross-match for the sample from the collar, which had a last ring date of 1450. Allowing for a likely number of missing sapwood rings, it is estimated that the timber was felled between 1465 and 1490.
