Description

Trial trenches were dug to evaluate a site where the building of 90 dwellings was proposed. Seven trenches, each measuring around 50m long by 1.8m wide, were dug under archaeological supervision by machine using a toothless grading bucket. A number of shallow gullies, interpreted as the remains of a rectilinear field system or systems was revealed, extending across the site. Limited evidence indicated a probable medieval or post-medieval date for this field system.
