Description
Excavation of two trenches to evaluate the proposed construction of a new dwelling on the site of an earlier one which had been demolished. The trenches were 4m by 1m and 5m by 1m, and were excavated by machine using a toothless bucket. Trench 1 contained two pits, one possibly medieval, and a linear ditch or feature. Trench 2 contained a linear ditch or feature. Both the linear features were oriented N-S. Some disturbance had been caused during the demolition of and concrete piles from the previous dwelling. Undisturbed natural subsoil was reached in both trenches.
