Description

Observations and recording during topsoil stripping for construction of a new riding area on the eastern side of the grounds of Parnham House. Topsoil was removed to a depth of 0.15m from an area measuring 60m by 20m. This revealed a flint gravel hard-standing containing fragments of modern building materials, possibly related to World War II activity at Parnham. Stone-filled field drains were also revealed. No archaeological finds or features were observed.
