EDO5882 - Sandford Lane, Wareham; observations and recording 1995

Observation and recording during excavation of footings to a maximum depth of 1.2m. No archaeological deposits or pre-modern finds were noted. Deposits revealed comprised around 200mm of dark brown topsoil above a layer 400-600mm thick of mixed dark brown black subsoil containing modern rubbish including plastic and building debris. Areas of redeposited natural sand with lenses of burnt and humic material were seen within this context. Where excavations exposed the underlying sand and gravel subsoils, no archaeological features were noted.
