Description

Cotswold Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of the route of the proposed Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme between July and December 2012. A total of 47 trenches were excavated in Dorset. Trench 31 was located on Compton Down. It measured 30m by 1.8m. It was excavated across a discrete positive geophysical anomaly (172). The geophysical anomaly was not identified within the trench, but three small parallel features (31002, 31004, 31006), probably cultivation marks, were found. These did not correspond to any geophysical anomalies. [1] [2] The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
