Description

Cotswold Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of the route of the proposed Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme between July and December 2012. A total of 47 trenches were excavated in Dorset. Trench 1 was located in the area for the proposed extension of the Sturminster Marshall Pumping Station. It measured 30m by 1.8m. A single small pit, 1003, of earlier prehistoric date was identified near the western end of the trench. It did not correlate to any anomaly identified by geophysical survey. [1] [2] The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
