Description
Area G16 forms a detailed gradiometer survey area on Rawston Down, which is part of the larger geophysical survey undertaken along the route of a new water supply main between the Wessex Water works at Corfe Mullen, Dorset to Camp Hill Storage Tank near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
No probable archaeological anomalies were identified within area G16. Possible archaeology includes several positive linear anomalies possibly associated with former cut features such as ditches (Anomalies 227-236), two negative linear responses indicative of former banked features (Anomalies 237-238), a number of discrete positive anomalies scattered across the area possibly associated with former cut features such as pits (Anomaly 219) and a scatter of magnetic spikes across much of the area probably associated with ferrous debris (Anomaly 240 ).
The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
