Description
Area G11 is a detailed gradiometer survey area on Iwerne Hill, which forms part of the larger geophysical survey undertaken along the route of a new water supply main between the Wessex Water works at Corfe Mullen, Dorset to Camp Hill Storage Tank near Salisbury, Wiltshire.
No anomalies of probable archaeological origin were identified. Possible archaeology includes a number of discrete positive anomalies scattered across the area, probably associated with former cut features such as pits, but are in a region of general background variation so may be of natural origin (Anomaly 176) and three magnetic spikes probably associated with ferrous debris (Anomaly 177).
The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
