Description
Area G9 is a detailed gradiometer survey area on Spread Eagle Hill, Melbury Abbas, which forms part of the larger geophysical survey undertaken along the route of a new water supply main between the Wessex Water works at Corfe Mullen, Dorset to Camp Hill Storage Tank near Salisbury, Wiltshire. The survey area crosses a hollow way.
No probable archaeological anomalies were identified. Possible archaeology includes two positive curvilinear anomalies indicative of former cut features (Anomalies 162-163), four discrete positive anomalies probably associated with infilled pits(Anomaly 164) and three magnetic spikes probably associated with ferrous debris (Anomaly 165).
The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
