Description

The Sherborne School Archaeological Society, under the direction of James Gibb, undertook a buildings survey and limited archaeological excavation of The Slype in the late 1960's and early 1970's (up to 1972). The work '…comprised the illustration and analysis of the north face of the north transept and some excavation work into 19th century deposits. It was this work that led to further excavations to the north of The Slype directed by Gem and Keen between 1972-6 (1).
