Description
An archaeological evaluation prior to the construction of 4 dwellings, garages and car parking areas, comprising the machine excavation of four trenches 4.5m by 1.6m, 7m by 1.6m and two 10m by 1.6m. All were removed of topsoil and excavated down in 200mm depth spits. Excavation was stopped upon reaching the top of natural subsoil.
Trench 1 was not excavated as it was originally located on land owned by neighbours. It was moved, and renamed Trench 5.
There were no pre-modern finds from any of the trenches, nor from any of the spoilheaps which were scanned.
