EDO5513 - Streches Almshouses, Worgret Road, Wareham; desk-based assessment 2004

In order to assess the archaeological resource of the areas where the new buildings were to be, the following activities were carried out. All maps relating to Wareham in the Dorset Record Office were examined. A search through the Proceedings of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeological Society, several published works were referenced including The History and Antiquities of the County of Dorset (Hodgeson and Shipp, 1861). The County Sites and Monuments Record held at Dorset County Council was also checked through. The archaeological information about the area of the present almshouses shows that there are no recorded finds and no surviving archaeological features. (no date is given for the duration of works).
