Description
The site of the development was inspected and recorded on three occasions during development. Twice after the topsoil had been stripped, and before any foundation trenches were dug, as well as once again during the excavation of the foundation trenches themselves. The topsoil was removed using a mechanical excavator using a toothless bucket, ensuring a relatively clean layer to observe. Observations were made later on at the same level when the site was weathered and vehicle impacted, though the surface remained sufficiently clean for the purposes of the observation and it is likely, according to the author, that all but the vaguest archaeological deposits would have been identified if present.
