Description

Observations and recording were carried out by Terrain Archaeology during emergency water main repairs along the side of East Walls. Six trenches were excavated. A dark greyish-brown silt was exposed in a number of the trenches. The authors interpreted this silt as possibly being part of the upper deposits of the town ditch, but commented that the trenches were very small and it was difficult to be confident about this interpretation. No dating evidence was recovered.
