Description

Observations during construction of a shopping centre revealed alluvium and meadowland soil. The land in the vicinity of the East Bridge (formerly known as Great East Brook Bridge) had been built up deliberately above the floodplain to create a gradual approach to the bridges and allow development adjacent to East Street.
