Description
An archaeological evaluation of a site proposed for residential development. The evaluation comprised the excavation by hand of two trenches to a maximum depth of around 600mm, the depth of the foundations proposed for the new development. The trenches revealed black, humic sandy soils similar to deposits seen elsewhere in Wareham, and representing a deep post-medieval soil. No archaeological features or finds were seen. The archaeologists on site concluded that any medieval deposits were below the depth of the new foundations.
