Description

Groundworks to level the area of the garden at Old Brow House prior to 1947 revealed traces of stone buildings, subsequently in 1947 the site was excavated by N Teulon Porter. Several stone structures were found standing to a height of 8 or 9 inches. One of the structures had a human skull nearby. The best preserved structure was circular and about 13 feet in diameter, east of this were some rectangular chambers. The associated pottery suggests a 13th century date. Potentially mesolithic flint flakes had been recovered from the site during the initial groundworks for the levelling of the garden.
