EDO5368 - Sherborne Abbey Close, Half Moon Street, Sherborne; Impulse Radar Survey

Stangers consulting Engineers conducted a radar survey for Sherborne Town Council in advance of road and path maintenance work at Sherborne Abbey Close in 1992. The survey identified a number of anomalies thought to represent inhumations associated with the abbey church. The majority of these anomalies were generally distributed close to and parallel with the the south front of the abbey church, although a smaller number were distributed across the eastern end of the abbey close. The survey also identified anomalous areas outside the west front, either foundations or disturbacnes associated with the sherborne abbey school excavations.
