Description
Steve Wallis of Dorset County Council conducted a watching brief at 31 Long Street in January 1995 during groundworks for an extension at the rear of the house. The footings trench was L shaped, on the lines of the north and west walls of the extension. The trench was 1m deep. The top 0.15m comprised a recent surface laid within the memory of the then owner. This surface overlay natural subsoil; a creamy coloured sandy silt. Several finds of recent origin were recovered.
The exact location of the trench is unclear and has been mapped as a point according to the location plan.
