EDO5296 - Charmouth House, The Street, Charmouth

During the conversion of the Charmouth House Hotel into dwellings in 2005, the interior was completely stripped back and a number of visits were made by by Peter Press of the Pavey group and a number of photographs taken. Casual observations were made of the roof, the internal beams and wall structure. The upper storey was timber framed with brick nogging. Some charred rafters, joists and door frames attest to an 18th century fire. A number of finds of pottery, glass and clay pipe of 17th-18th century date were recovered.(1)
