Description

Wessex Archaeology undertook an evaluation of a proposed residential development site at Barrow Lea, Stalbridge during 1995. This site has since been developed as Pond Walk, Barrow Hill, Stalbridge. The evaluation comprised the machine excavation of ten trenches. Two trenches contained undated features of probable archaeological origin; intermittent subsoil containing a small number of abraded post medieval and possible medieval pottery sherds was noted in nine trenches; areas of deep disturbance may be related to landslips or small scale quarrying.
