Description

AC Archaeology undertook a watching brief during the redevelopment of the site of Bonfield’s Garage, Bridport in 2006. The watching brief monitored the excavation of a drainage trench from Tannery Street at the southern end of the site to the centre of the site. This trench was between 0.6m and 1.25m deep and did not penetrate below modern disturbance. Observations were also undertaken during the excavation of trenches for the new buildings around the previously piled foundations. These trenches were up to 1m deep and did not penetrate below modern disturbance. Natural deposits were not exposed and no pre-modern material was recorded.(1) (2)
