Description
AC archaeology carried out an evaluation of the site of the Bridport Community Hospital, prior to the construction of the hospital in 1993. Five machine trenches were excavated in the areas not affected by previous disturbance and landscaping.
Trench 1 was a 45m long machine-cut trench running N-S along the east side of the former Allington Hospital buildings at the northern end of the site. The stratigraphy comprised 0.1m of topsoil, 0.3m of colluvium, on top of the surface of the Bridport Sands. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were found.
