Description

Terrain Archaeology conducted an archaeological watching brief during construction of a new water main adjacent to New Road, Sherborne in November 2002. A thin band of charcoal-soil containing a clay pipe and a number of human bones recorded at NGR ST64441640 was associated with a linear earthwork running along the Yeo floodplain to the west of the site. The human remains were not in situ but may be related to one of the sieges of Sherborne Castle during the civil war.
